The Isokinetic Method aims to achieve Maximum Functional Recovery for each patient. This is why our rehabilitation team goes beyond merely addressing symptoms; we also aim for optimal functional recovery, which varies based on the specific type of injury.
Maximum Functional Recovery is not the same across all patients. Instead, it is a flexible treatment protocol that adapts to each individual’s needs. This approach aligns with the definition of “health,” which is no longer viewed simply as the absence of disease but, in accordance with the World Health Organization’s perspective, as a “state of complete physical, psychological, and social well-being.”
As individuals who have had an injury want to alleviate the discomfort caused by symptoms and restore functionality to the affected area as quickly as possible, treatment should commence without delay. Isokinetic centers place a strong emphasis on thorough clinical and functional assessments as the foundation for developing personalised rehabilitation protocols. These protocols are tailored to each patient’s unique physical attributes, health status, and the specific sports or occupational activities they engage in.
In the process leading to Maximum Functional Recovery, motivation is of primary importance. The patient must work in partnership with the rehabilitation team, consistently putting forth their best effort during each session. In other words, the patient evolves from being merely a recipient of therapy to becoming an active participant in their recovery. At Isokinetic we like to say that “Every person is unique and we do not just treat a knee but a patient who has knee pain.” Building on this principle of uniqueness, we engage patients in an ambitious care journey that requires time and effort but has the potential to bring about a genuine and lasting state of health.
To achieve maximum functional recovery, it is essential to motivate the patient to progressively attain the objectives outlined in the 5 Stages of Rehabilitation that make up rehabilitation approach. Learn more.
The steps are not standardized and each patient will take their own time to achieve the set goals.
We often hear the question, “How long will it take for my injured shoulder or knee to recover?”
The duration and methods of the treatment path are carefully evaluated by the specialist physician, taking into account the pathology and the patient’s desired functional goals.
Perhaps better questions would be, “How much mobility will I get back in my shoulder or knee? Will my results last over time?”
In Isokinetic’s philosophy, to achieve maximum functional recovery possible is to restore the “state of complete physical, psychological and social well-being” in the shortest time and with lasting results.
This applies to everyone: professional athletes, amateur athletes, and any other patient who chooses to entrust their health to one of our centers.
