Isokinetic Medical Group generates and disseminates knowledge in the Sports Medicine field, actively contributing to international scientific discussion on the most relevant topics in this industry and helping to improve the quality of patient care worldwide.
The foundation of Isokinetic Medical Group lies in a strong cultural mission: the belief that success is built upon sharing knowledge. This principle applies both internally, among the Medical Group professionals, and externally, through the dissemination of expertise developed over years of clinical practice and validated through scientific research. For this reason, since the very beginning, great attention has been dedicated to studying patient outcomes after discharge, ensuring that Isokinetic treatment methodologies are supported by solid evidence.
This approach has led to the development of original research lines, resulting in scientific publications in international indexed journals, presentations at hundreds of conferences worldwide and contribution to numerous book chapters.
With the arrival of Dr. Francesco Della Villa in the Education and Research Department (ERD) in 2013 — and of which he has been Director since 2021— scientific research activity has grown exponentially, mirrored by growth in the educational programmes. This initiative benefits a wide community of young and promising doctors, physiotherapists, fellows, residents and trainees from all over the world. They share Isokinetic’s commitment to generating and disseminating knowledge, fostering excellence in the field of Sports Medicine both in Italy and abroad.
To complete the picture of scientific engagement, Isokinetic specialists participate every year in numerous national and international conferences, where they present research findings and share the Group’s vision for preventing and managing sports injuries.
As the education and research division of an international Medical Group, Isokinetic’s Education and Research Department (ERD) focuses on several areas of scientific investigation, all with the goal of making a meaningful impact in the Sports Medicine field.
We start with an in-depth understanding of how sport injuries occur, taking the type of sport and the specific injury mechanism into consideration. This helps us figure out the most effective way to treat each individual case.
Over the years, our research has evolved across multiple domains: we initially focused on muscle strength and metabolism, then explored how exercise supports tissue healing alongside regenera-tive medicine. This was followed by biomechanical analyses of sport movements and common inju-ries and, more recently, by exploring the potential of neuromotor training, neuroplasticity and neu-rocognitive approaches to injury prevention. It has been a long journey, spanning physiology, biolo-gy, biomechanics and neuroscience.
Over time, Isokinetic has developed a strong focus on injury prevention research, particularly in football medicine, with a specific protocol for young players.
As a Medical Group dedicated to Sports Medicine, our ultimate goal is patient wellbeing. This means that Isokinetic research not only addresses functional recovery but also encompasses the entire process of returning to daily life and to practicing sport. For every research line, the guiding principle is clear: firstly, to transform scientific insights into tangible benefits for patients and then, once solid outcome data are collected, to publish our findings in leading scientific journals—ensuring they have a lasting impact on the outside world.
