On Friday 7th May, Dr. Daniel Broman, Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine at Isokinetic, was invited to be the physician at the NFL Academy match at the New River Stadium in North London.
The NFL Academy (https://www.nflacademy.com), which opened in September 2019, is a major UK initiative that aims to use American Football to create life-changing opportunities for young people. This unique programme gives aspiring young American Football players and outstanding athletes the chance to develop their skills and knowledge of their game, whilst also gaining educational opportunities.
The NFL is advised by many of the world’s pre-eminent experts in medicine and science and Isokinetic are proud to be able to support the NFL Academy in keeping their athletes fit and healthy. Data from the NFL (https://www.nfl.com/playerhealthandsafety/health-and-wellness/injury-data/) shows a high incidence of concussion, knee ligament injury and muscle injuries and these are all problems that Sport and Exercise Medicine specialists are expertly trained to manage.
Isokinetic was very proud to support the medical provision for the event to help safeguard the athletes and ensure optimal injury management. As well as providing pre-hospital care for any medical emergencies, our team was on hand to treat any sports injuries in what can be a ferocious sport. The match was the first of several over the coming years and was a resounding success and a hugely enjoyable day.
