Shock waves in therapy for functional rehabilitation
Shock wave therapy is a non-invasive approach that can be incorporated into Isokinetic rehabilitation protocols following a thorough initial clinical evaluation conducted by a physiatrist or sports medicine specialist.
what are shock waves?
Shock waves are brief, targeted pressure pulses that generate a direct mechanical force. Their primary function is to stimulate bone repair processes and produce an anti-inflammatory effect.
The standard treatment protocols consist of 3 to 5 sessions, each lasting 5-6 minutes and spaced 2-7 days apart, depending on the specific condition being treated.
Slight discomfort may be experienced during treatment but disappears after the session.

By means of mechanical stimulation, shock wave therapy can deliver significant biological effects on both the symptoms and underlying causes of various musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. This results in reduced pain, enhanced tissue regeneration, and a rapid restoration of normal function.

Shock waves present no health risk either locally or in general. It is a noninvasive, repeatable, safe and effective outpatient therapy with no clinically relevant side effects.
