Whether your activity is gardening, dance, yoga, tennis, rugby or football, we want to help you do the things you love doing better than before and for as long as possible. We will help you with any musculo-skeletal injury, which may or may not be a sports related, to reach a diagnosis and a care plan to get you back doing the things you love. We offer a doctor (physician) led service with experts in sport and exercise medicine working in a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, osteopaths and rehabilitation specialists to help you recover.
OUR APPROACH
We believe that Isokinetic has revolutionised the way sports rehabilitation is delivered. Being this is extensive experience in professional sport, but please know that the same philosophy and standards apply to all patients, whether you be 5 or 95 years old! We offer complete care, from the moment of injury, all the way through to return to your active life.
We divide rehabilitation and recovery from injury into five distinct phases and assign a specialist Sports Medicine doctor to case-manage each individual patient, ensuring you get the best possible care and support throughout your treatment and time with us. Learn more about our method.
Managing patient care and the entire rehabilitation process is what we do best. We bring together doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths and other specialists in a way that enables them to all unite around a common goal: finding the best possible solution for the patient in a way that works best for that particular individual. Not only from a clinical perspective but also a psychological and logistical one. We don’t just treat the knee, but the patient suffering from knee pain and that is where our point of difference lies.
From this basis, a personalised rehabilitation programme is created, based not only on the affliction a patient is suffering from, but how much time and energy that patient can dedicate.
We also have close links in the local Harley Street Medical Area, London and around the world, and can assist you in finding the right orthopaedic surgeons, MRI scans, or whatever else may be necessary for your recovery. You need look no further than us for a comprehensive and excellent service!
The World Health Organisation defines health as a “state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. This provides a clear, conclusive and challenging definition in which the members of the Isokinetic family have always had a strong belief.
Over the course of our 33 year history, we have continually developed and improved our methods in an attempt to provide our patients with good health, in its broadest meaning. In fact, each rehabilitation pathway is not just a means to overcome an injury or illness, but a unique opportunity through which patients can recover their fitness and seek a general state of wellbeing. When taking this point-of-view, rehabilitation can become a positive life experience, changing a patient’s perspective. We have written this Handbook, with the hope that a deeper awareness of what you are undertaking will help you to understand its potential.
YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
Your first appointment will be at least a 40 minute consultation with one of our Sports Medicine Doctors – so be sure to bring any recent X-ray or other scan results when you come. We’ll cover your medical history, key lifestyle information, your expectations of recovery and personal goals. Taking all of this into account, your doctor will become your personal Case Manager, guiding you through the entire process. We may also move to the gym for an initial rehabilitation session and functional evaluation, so it is also a good idea to bringing appropriate gym kit. And finally, please book yourself out of your diary for a few extra minutes to fill in the various forms we will need from you, and booking in the rehabilitation sessions (if appropriate).
YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS
Right from your first appointment your doctor will start to prepare a customised rehabilitation plan. Your recovery starts straight away! Exercise is an important component of our model of care, so you should expect to start rehabilitation sessions in the gym or pool almost immediately. Sessions typically last 100-120 minutes, with a combination of manual therapy, treatment modalities and supervised exercise.

PRIVATE MEDICAL INSURANCE
We are recognised by the majority of insurers. We have direct billing agreements with Allianz, Aviva, WPA, CIGNA and Exeter Friendly insurance policies. If you are covered by any other private health insurance company, we request a deposit and that you settle your account with us directly after each appointment and claim the costs back from your insurance company. If we do bill directly please do be aware of your policy details, especially around annual benefit limits and excesses. We do not like unpleasant insurance surprises for you.
Dealing with insurances will likely form part of our relationship with you. We know that dealing with insurance can sometimes can be annoying or seem complicated. This is why we recommend that you start with understanding the limitations on your personal policy. Our experience tells us each individual’s policy can be completely different, so it is important to establish exactly what you are covered for, as well as if there are restrictions on the number of appointments, annual excesses, or a maximum benefit allowance.
As a first step please come with a pre-authorisation code and your membership number for this first appointment with the doctor who will be a specialist in Sport and Exercise Medicine. After this, we will help you understand what other treatment sessions need to be pre-authorised before commencing the sessions.
Please be aware that any annual excesses, co-payments or shortfalls on your policy will need to paid by you in full.
Embassy or sponsored patients should always present with a letter of guarantee on headed paper stating who is responsible for the consultation and treatment at the clinic.

HARLEY ST.
Harley Street is an historic street in the world of medicine, and for many is synonymous with high quality and pioneering healthcare services. Since the mid-19th Century many doctors had moved into Harley Street, choosing the area because of the housing, the central location as well as the accessibility to major train stations such as Kings Cross St Pancras and Marylebone. As more and more doctors moved to the area they invited colleagues to work with them from their prestigious homes and Harley Street began to thrive as a medical centre, especially after the Medical Society of London opened in Chandos Street in 1873 then the Royal Society of Medicine in Wimpole Street in 1912. Today there are over 3,000 people employed in healthcare the Harley Street area.
Sport and Exercise Medicine though has not had a significant presence, in part due to the constraints of the classical architecture of a grand house with a mews property at the rear.
With the strong backing of our Landlord, we have been able to change this and bring forward a new era in the services offered on Harley Street.
