La XXV edizione del Congresso Internazionale sulla Riabilitazione Sportiva e Traumatologia si è svolta a Londra presso il Queen Elisabeth II Conference Centre con il titolo “Return to Play”.
Un recente studio ha evidenziato come solo il 55% dei giocatori ritorni a praticare sport a livello competitivo dopo ricostruzione del legamento crociato anteriore. È inoltre noto che il rischio di avere un nuovo infortunio sia pari al 5,8% per il neo-legamento omolaterale ricostruito e al 11,8% per il legamento controlaterale ad un minimo di 5 anni di follow up.
Alla fine tutto si riduce al concetto di “Return to Play”. La vera domanda che interessa medici, giocatori e squadre è: “Quando e come il giocatore potrà tornare in campo in sicurezza?”
RTP è un argomento molto vasto e questo congresso si è proposto di offrire un’ampia panoramica per fornire la visione di insieme necessaria per avere successo nella carriera dello sportivo professionista. Questo è reso possibile dalla condivisione di esperienze e conoscenze dei massimi esperti delle diverse discipline che convergono nella Football Medicine Community.
Infatti, il Congresso è stato soprattutto un’occasione di discussione e scambio di idee ed esperienze.
In particolare, Return to Play è stato analizzato da diversi punti di vista: medicina dello sport, ortopedia, sports science, fisioterapia, psicologia, medicina generale, radiologia, chiropratica, osteopatia, preparazione atletica, allenatori e medici di squadre. Attraverso questo approccio multidisciplinare e superando la rigida divisione fra punto di vista medico e fisioterapico, si può guadagnare una più profonda comprensione del processo di recupero da un infortunio e non solo approfondire qualche singolo aspetto tecnico.
Il nostro scopo è portare la salute nel mondo del calcio. Sono oltre 300 milioni i calciatori nel mondo e noi vogliamo dare agli staff che dovranno curarne la salute le migliori competenze e la possibilità di confrontarsi con gli esperti mondiali del settore.
